Setting Your Layout

How do I set my weblog's layout?

Answer
At Weblogs > Design > Layout, you can select a Classic or Mixed Media Layout for your weblog. Tip: To select and immediately apply a layout, double-click it. Your layout can have one, two, or three columns:

1 Column Layout
A single column design puts your posts front and center. The clean, uncluttered layout will allow readers to focus on the text or photos that you’ve posted, without any other elements to distract from your ideas. Your links and other information appear below the main weblog.
2 Column Layouts
A two column design is a simple but flexible choice that tucks your links and TypeLists neatly to the side. Your posts have plenty of space, but there’s room for a good amount of additional information.
The two column left layout places the sidebar on the left and the main post column on the right.
The two column right layout places the sidebar on the right and the main post column on the left.
3 Column Layouts
A three column layout is your best choice if you have a lot of supplementary information that you’d like to present along with your main weblog posts. This gives the page more of a formal structure and offers the most space for photos, links, widgets and TypeLists.
With the three column layout, each sidebar is on either side of the main post column in the center.
With the three column right layout, both sidebars are to the right of the main post column. This may be a good choice if you have a series of ads or banners you'd like to place in the far right column.
Fluid and Fixed Width Layouts

The content area in a "fluid" layout changes size when the browser window is resized. The area where your weblog posts are displayed expands or contracts to work with the size of the browser window.

Otherwise the content area is a fixed width (such as 400 pixels), which means that the width of the content stays the same no matter what size the browser window is.

If you are using a Custom Theme you can change the width of the content area on the Theme page.

Additional information is available in the Changing Your Design From Fixed to Fluid article.

Mixed Media Layouts
Mixed Media Layouts are perfect for displaying a mix of text, photos, video, audio and other types of media. They are ideal when posting remotely using a mobile device such as a mobile phone with camera.

In this example, a Mixed Media Layout is being used for a mobile phone photo weblog.

Artistic
The Artistic layout is good for spotlighting your most recent photo and features space on the left for your posts. This layout also displays the five most recent photos in your weblog. Your links and other information appear under your most recent photos.
Calendar
The Calendar layout is good for displaying a calendar with your recent photos. Your photos will appear on the right side and your posts will appear on the left. Your links and other information appear under the calendar.
3 Columns
The three-column layout is similar to the classic three-column layout but this layout features your most recent photos in the layout's right hand column. This layout features plenty of space for your posts in the center column and room for your links and other information in the left hand column.
4 Columns
The four-column layout is a combination of the three-column layout as it features your most recent photos in the left hand sidebar. It also features two sidebars to the right that allow plenty of space for you links and other information.
Timeline
The Timeline layout is great way to feature your most recent photos. It is similar to the Calendar layout but it does not use a calendar format to display your most recent photos. You also have room for your links and other information under the most recent photos.
When Using Mixed Media Layouts Keep in Mind:
Photos posted to Your Photo Album will not appear in a Mixed Media Layout, although you can post photos separately to a Mixed Media Layout.
You cannot use the Side Calendar or the TypePad Recently Updated List in a Mixed Media Layout.
You can choose which of your TypeLists to display in the Layout.
Mixed Media Layouts do not use TypePad's drag and drop content layout editor.
To upload mixed media images, use the Insert Image button on the New Post page or send them via mobile posting.

Cellulean Review - Is Cellulean An Effective Cellulite Treatment

What is cellulite?

The disorder refers to a condition that occurs mostly in women where the skin of the legs, buttocks and abdomen takes on a dimple like appearance after puberty. But perhaps it is wrong to label this condition as a disorder. The fact is that many doctors believe it is just a natural and normal condition in many women and that there are no proven treatments or way of rectifying it.

Notwithstanding the advice of doctors and other professionals, many women with cellulite are willing to do just about anything to get rid of it. That is because cellulite is considered extremely unattractive by both men and women. And nicknames like "cottage cheese skin" and "orange peel syndrome" certainly don't help others accept it.

In the next few paragraphs we are going to take a look at a popular cellulite treatment to see whether or not it can get rid of that unsightly skin.

When women notice that they are developing cellulite, they tend to have extreme reactions to it. Most of them run immediately to their plastic surgeons' and ask for liposuction. But liposuction has proven completely ineffective in getting rid of cellulite. The fact is that this procedure only reduces fat and fat deposits in certain areas of the body it does not smooth out the skin.

As we mentioned earlier, doctors are baffled when it comes to cellulite, which is why many women have turned to non-prescription, over-the-counter topical solutions. One of the best products on the market is called Cellulean.

Cellulean is a new product that is contains a common asthma drug called Aminophylline. It has been proven in a number of clinical trials to reduce fat on the thighs, buttocks, hips and stomach.

No, this product is not magic. It works by simply carrying natural and pharmaceutical ingredients through the skin and into the fat cells where they work to help these cells release fat particles. Instead of simply removing fat, as liposuction does, this product actually reduces their size just enough so that bumpy and uneven cellulite skin becomes much smoother and firmer. And because it is a cream, it will not cause scaring or lumpiness like liposuction procedures often will. Cellulean customers report that they have seen dramatic results in as early as two weeks. These results often consist of much slimmer looking thighs, buttocks and stomach areas as well as an appreciable diminution of the appearance of cellulite.

The Side Effects

While there are no know cellulean side effects, it should not be used by pregnant women. There is, of course, no evidence that it is harmful during pregnancy, however, the product has not been tested on pregnant women and therefore should not be used by them. If, however, you are not pregnant, you can use this product as often as you like. In clinical trials, both men and women have used cellulean and it has been proven completely safe.

Copy Wii Games

The Nintendo Wii is an incredibly popular system that offers a unique method of gameplay. It's no wonder so many people want to make copies of their own Wii games as backups to keep them from being damaged.

Right off the bat we want to make one thing clear - we are NOT encouraging you to copy games that you do not own. The purpose is to help you make backups of your existing games. Making backups of your own discs is completely legal.

Success Stories:Click here

While these games come on a disc that looks a lot like your burnable CDs, they can't just be copied the same way you'd rip a music CD. It's a little more complicated than that. Here's a guide to tell you the basics of copying Wii games, as well as the circumstances when you should and shouldn't do it.

Your usual burning software can't copy your Wii games the same way you'd burn a CD. Roxio, Nero, and other popular burning programs just can't copy these disks. That's because there's encoded copy protection on the disk that keeps your computer from being able to make sense of it.

Of course, like most copy protection, it didn't take long for someone to come up with a workaround. There are programs available that can read through the copy protection that comes on a Wii disc.

Once you've installed this kind of software, making a copy of the game is relatively easy - your computer is suddenly able to understand the data that was unreadable before. This is true for games on just about any system, including the PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii.

Even some PC games use encryption that can be broken by these programs. Should you own more than one game system, this software can help you produce backup copies for all of them, not just your Wii.

I found HomebreWare by accident and gave it a shot. I have to say I was impressed with the results.

When Organizing, Trust Your Instincts

I was working with a client recently to organize her home papers. We were purging papers that were no longer needed, and sorting the keepers into categories so that we could put them into files for future retrieval. So far, so good. My client confided that she considers herself organized at work, and actually likes a fairly clutter-free environment. She shared that at home, however, she has a really hard time dealing with paper. This is not uncommon. Some clients can maintain organizing systems at work, and not at home, while others can keep it together at home, but things fall apart at work. There are many reasons for this organizing disparity, and I assumed that as I worked with this client, the reasons would surface.

And surface they did. As soon as we started to set up the filing system, I noticed that my client lacked confidence in her decisions. When I would ask her what to name a certain file, she would get very nervous, mention a possible name, then second-guess herself almost immediately. She became visibly distressed, and started to lose steam. We took a break, and started discussing what she was feeling. She was feeling overwhelmed with choices, and was scared that she would make the wrong choice (her words) and not be able to find papers when she needed them later on. This, my friends, is what happens when someone does not trust his or her instincts when organizing.

It is not a surprise that my client became overwhelmed as soon as we got to the implementation phase. This is when you set up the organizing system in a way that makes sense to you, and can be integrated into your life. For many people, this is the toughest part, as it requires the person to make decisions and own them. If a person lacks confidence in his or her ability to set up a system or to maintain it, that lack of confidence usually manifests itself through indecision. For my client, this reared its ugly head more at home than at work. At work, often the systems are already in place and an employee merely has to follow them. For some, this makes it harder as the system may be far from what he or she would have created. However, for others, following a ready-made system is easier as it takes the decision-making part out of the equation.

So what to do? Use your instincts. Go with your gut.

If you were unfortunate enough to have to sit for the SAT exam in high school, you may remember the common tip that people would give: do not change your first answer, as it is usually the right one. You can say the same thing when it comes to organizing systems. I often will say to a client when they are having a hard time choosing a name for a file, "Quick, what file name would you think to look for this paper under?" I am trying to make my clients use free association, and not over-think the naming process. File names are only important when it comes to retrieval, not storage. Most people get caught up in what to name a file because they are focusing on the front-end - the storage process. But filing is most important on the back-end, during the retrieval process, when you need to access something quickly after time has gone by and your memory is not as fresh.

I am amazed how often clients will fight their natural organizing habits and tendencies. For example, a client will explain that he is having a hard time with mail being everywhere in his home. He will advise that he has a mail slot system but is not using it. I ask why. He tells me it is hanging by the front door, but he uses the back door. I then suggest moving the mail slot to hang near the back door. My client will say, "Oh that makes sense, why didn't I ever think of that?" Sometimes the easiest solution is staring you right in the face, but you don't trust yourself to grab it. Organizing systems should be intuitive, not difficult.

Back to my recent client. She realized that she wanted to set up her filing system by using each family member's name and then using sub-categories within each person's file area. For example, let's say her son's name is Tom. She wanted to have a main category called Tom, and then file folders within that category for Tom-Auto, Tom-Education, Tom-Medical, Tom-Work, etc. The reason for this, she explained, is that she tends to think of each person as a universe unto him- or herself. Once she is within that universe, then she wants to break it down by subject matter category. Others set up their filing systems based on main subject matter categories of Auto, Education, Medical, Work, etc. and then use each family member's name as the sub-categories and file folders within.

Which is right? Well, both, actually. It depends on the way your brain thinks about and processes paper. For my client, this system worked. As soon as we set up her filing system in this manner, I could see her confidence come back and her spirits rise. This felt "right" to her. She just lacked the confidence to try it before.

Letting Go of Clutter in the New Year

A New Year, A New Opportunity to Organize in the New Year New Year's Resolutions- who needs them? Why not decide to do something instead of make up goals you'll end up never keeping. Channel your thoughts and energy by actually blocking off time on your calendar to get those goals accomplished. If you'd like to get organized this New Year- start by scheduling in the time to get it done. Read further to get a jump start on organizing
Set realistic attainable organizing goals- how long was the clutter allowed to pile up? For some, it was years. You can't organize year's worth of clutter in one day. So, work on reducing the clutter space by space or room by room. Remember finish one space completely before jumping onto the next. You'll quickly get overwhelmed if you don't.
Although you might be purging back logged paper piles or clutter, be conscious of your daily habits. In order to maintain a clear space, there has to be daily toss time and daily "put things away" time. This doesn't have to take hours- 15 minutes max. Purging and daily maintenance are equally important. One without the other doesn't exist when you're first starting to organize.
Overwhelm- it happens to everyone. Set a kitchen timer or play a CD. Let that be your gauge of how long you'll work on your clutter before giving up. Promise yourself you'll make it through the complete CD or you'll work till the timer buzzes. When I'm faced with a lot of clutter at a client's home, I sometimes have to remind myself to put my blinders on, just like a horse. When horses need to focus on looking forward their blinders keep them concentrated and on task. So strap on those blinders and go at it- don't look back or around at all the clutter.
Don't know where to start? Grab 2 garbage bags- walk around the cluttered room filling one with trash, one with donations. Be sure to take out the garbage and donations when finished. Leaving it lying around will make matters worse.
Want to keep everything? Decide first, what you want the space to look like when you're done- would getting rid of half the stuff be enough to get it where you'd be pleased ? Would 20% clear enough clutter to help you better utilize the space? Be strict now and decide to clear that much stuff in order to attain your desired outcome. Without setting a precedence in the beginning you'll never get rid of the stuff while looking at it. The excuses will always come to want to keep something.
Live with Mr. or Mrs. Messy and you're neat? I know this is hard. Sit down and have a heart to heart talk. Don't accuse the person- instead, explain why and how you like things organized. List the ways being organized makes life easy for you. Meet half way. Don't expect the person to be perfect and do it every way your way. Ask nicely and maybe your loved one will understand and respect why organizing is so important to you. Then he or she might be motivated to make some changes.

What To Get Baby For Their First Christmas Gift

The holiday season is a time for children and it’s especially exciting for families who are celebrating baby’s first Christmas. There are traditional and not so traditional presents available for the youngest member of the household. Many of these baby Christmas gift items will be treasured for years to come. Of course, babies have been known to be more fascinated by the wrapping paper!
Simple toys are always appreciated, such as ring games, building blocks, bath toys or rattles. Sqeezy balls or anything that whistles, rings a bell or otherwise makes a noise will keep baby entertained while Mom and Dad cook the Christmas dinner. After an exciting day, it may take baby a while to settle down and go to sleep. A mobile above the crib might do the trick, especially one that plays a soothing lullaby. A music box is another musical idea. Some items can be personalized with a message or the baby’s name. There are my first Christmas baby blankets available in addition to teddy bears wearing t-shirts with Father Christmas. Some teddy bears sing a song or play a tune. A Rudolph the red nosed reindeer is another themed baby Christmas gift.
My first Christmas keepsake boxes are great for storing cards and other family mementos. There are also boxes to keep baby’s first hair curl or tooth. Baby can have his or her own stocking with their name on it. Pewter mugs and breakfast and dinner crockery sets are popular too. Sterling silver keepsake spoons or photograph albums or photograph frames are another baby Christmas gift idea. Relatives or friends may want to buy baby a bible or scripture book.
Some more unconventional presents are gaining in popularity. These are not ones that baby can unwrap but they do last a lifetime. For a memorable baby Christmas gift, there are companies that sell an acre of land on the moon or Venus. The gift contains a deed certificate and a property map showing the location of the land and detailing the mineral rights. In similar fashion, it is possible to name a star in honor of the new arrival. This comes with a presentation box, containing a certificate with the star’s name, a sky chart and a star plotter. For a more down to earth present, there is a dedicate a tree gift pack and baby helps conservation by having a tree planted in his or her name.

Sing In The New Year With Music For A New Year’s Eve Party

If you are planning a New Year’s Eve party, one of the most important elements of the party planning is the music you plan to play at the party. Making preparations for the food, beverages, entertainment, decorations and favors are all very important, but the music at the party are critical to the success of the party. It determines whether or not the guests have a good time. This article will discuss some of the options for music at a New Year’s Eve party and will provide information on implementing these options.
Hiring a band is one very popular option for providing music for a New Year’s Eve party. There are some considerations which should be mulled over before deciding to hire a band. One of these important considerations is the amount of space required for the band to set up and perform. This is important especially if you are hosting the party in your home. Before signing a contract with a band, you should have a representative from the band visit the space and determine if there is enough room available. The noise ordinances should also be considered when hiring a band for a New Year’s Eve party. Again this is most important if you are hosting the party in your home. When hiring a band you should also consider whether or not the band will appeal to the majority of the guests at your New Year’s Eve party. This is especially important if you will have guests from a number of different generations at your party.
Another option for proving music at your New Year’s Eve party is to hire a DJ to perform at the party. This is a good idea because DJs typically play a wide variety of music and are skilled at reading the audience and determining which types of music will appeal to the audience. They are also typically good at encouraging audience participation. Again, it is important to consider noise ordinances when hiring a DJ to entertain at your New Year’s Eve party. Your DJ will likely be aware of these ordinances particularly if he works in the area often but you should still discuss this with the DJ before signing a contract to ensure he will comply with these regulations.
One inexpensive option for providing music for your guests at your New Year’s Eve party is to be your own DJ. If you have an extensive CD collection, you can insert a number of these into a disk changer and set the changer to play randomly. Changing the CDs throughout the night will keep the music fresh throughout the party. Another idea is to ask each guest to bring five of their own CDs to the party. Each guest can then take turns playing DJ for a half hour to an hour. This is a fun way to provide music for your guests and also helps to ensure each guest will hear some music they enjoy during the party. Still another option for providing your own music during your New Year’s Eve party is to set up a satellite radio system and attach it to speakers. You can set the satellite to a station featuring upbeat dance music or music which accompanies the theme of the New Year’s Eve party.
An another inexpensive option for providing musical entertainment for your New Year’s Eve party is to rent a karaoke machine and encourage the guests to provide their own entertainment. Karaoke can be a great deal of fun especially for a group of guests who are willing to participate in the fun. If you have a theme for the New Year’s Eve party, you can provide songs for the karaoke machine which relate to the theme. If there is not a specific theme for the New Year’s Eve party, you can select a selection of songs which are likely to be popular with your guests.

New Year Events Should Be With Family And Friends

Do you know anyone that always has to be in the limelight? I’m talking about the kind of person that will go out of their way to get invited to social events and to make sure that everyone they know is aware of it. This type of activity never interested me a great deal. I have attended a few upper level social gatherings and found them to be pretentious and a bit boring. My girlfriend on the over hand tries to attend every possible social event that she can. I love her dearly, however she does like to name drop, especially in political circles and this gets annoying very quickly.
Through the years my husband and I have decided that we are no longer going to attend social gathering that were not fun. We work hard and do not want to spend our off time attending events or spending time with people that we do not enjoy. As a result we do a great deal of entertaining in our home and are also invited to other’s homes for dinner parties and other gatherings. We used to be involved in New Year events where all the important political and business people would be. These New Year parties were usually fund raisers, so we would start the new year and end the old year spending money on causes that we were losing interest in. Many times these funding raising events are held in conjunction with New Year events so people can use the donation as a write off for their taxes.
Three year’s ago we started a new tradition for New Year’s. We get together with three other families that we are close to. Our children are close in age and get along well. We have a potluck supper and spend the evening playing games and visiting. One year we had enough snow to go sledding together. It is a relaxing time where we are not fighting crowds, we are not spending large amounts of money at fund raisers or in restaurants and no one is having to travel. It is a safe way to spend the holiday and also include the children in the evening. I like the idea of spending the beginning of a new year with people I love and who love me. It makes it easier to reflect back on the good that has happened through the year. My girlfriend is disappointed that I have stopped going to the social events with her. After listening to her descriptions of the parties she attends, I am glad I am hanging out with the neighbors.

Decorate Like It’s A New Year’s Eve Party

Decorating for a New Year’s Eve party is a very important part of the party planning. A host may spend a great of time worrying about the food and beverages or the guest list but may not give adequate attention to the decorations. This is unfortunate because the decorations at a New Year’s Eve party can do a great deal to help set the atmosphere for a New Year’s Eve party. This article will offer some advice on decorating for a New Year’s Eve party including popular decorating ideas and tips for incorporating themes into the decorations.
One of the most common decorating ideas for a New Year’s Eve party is to incorporate Christmas or winter decorations into the party decorations. This is considered acceptable because of the proximity of New Year’s Eve to Christmas. Most people still have their Christmas decorations up and if they plan to host the New Year’s Eve party in their home it is understandable that the décor for the party will relate to Christmas. Decoration ideas may include a Christmas tree with ornaments, red bows, holly, silver candlesticks and pinecones. An assortment of pinecones in a glass bowl can make a great centerpiece for a New Year’s Eve party using Christmas decorations.
Themes for a New Year’s Eve party do not have to follow any particular guidelines. These parties can be based on any theme which is preferred by the host of the party. When a theme is incorporated into the party planning it is expected that the décor for the evening will reflect the theme of the party. For example a New Year’s Eve party with a beach theme could feature sand sculptures as centerpieces, plates shaped like seashells, a decorative fishing net as a tablecloth or any other related items which may reflect the theme of the party.
Another fun idea for decorating at a New Year’s Eve party is to ask each guest to bring an item to contribute to the décor for the evening. This results in a rather eclectic assortment of items decorating the party space but it also greatly reduces the amount of time, energy and money the host has to spend on decorations for the party. It also created an opportunity for guests to get to know each other. During the course of the party the guests will have the opportunity to view all of the decorations on display and may wonder about where each item came from and if there is any significance to the item. Later in the evening the guests can each have the opportunity to talk about the item they brought and explain why it is significant to them and why they chose to bring this particular item. This is like an adult version of show and tell.
Finally in decorating for a New Year’s Eve party, it is important to ensure the decorations for the party contribute to the atmosphere but do not detract from the party in any way. The guests should notice and appreciate the décor for the evening but the decorations should not be the focal point of the evening. This is important because the focus of the evening should be on the food, the entertainment, the activities and guests socializing with each other and having a good time.

Give Them A Little Something - New Year’s Eve Party Favors

If you are planning a New Year’s Eve party, you might be considering offering party favors to your guests. This is an excellent idea and can offer your guests a lovely memento of the party. Hosts of a New Year’s Eve party have a lot of options for favors. If the New Year’s Eve party has a theme, the host might consider offering a favor which goes with the theme of the party. If the New Year’s Eve party does not have a theme, the favor may be related to traditional symbols of the New Year or may be completely unrelated to the holiday season. This article will offer some advice for providing favors at a New Year’s Eve party including a few ideas for favors.
When hosting a New Year’s Eve party, it is important to decide whether or not your will give favors to your guests while you are still in the planning stages of the party. This is especially important if you are setting a strict budget for the New Year’s Eve party. Considering favors early in the planning process will help to ensure you budget properly and include enough money in the budget to purchase favors for all of your guests.
One idea for giving favors is to offer items which are traditionally associated with New Year’s Eve. Champagne glasses are popular choices as favors for a New Year’s Eve party. It is a nice touch to have the date of the party engraved on the glasses to make the favors more personal and to ensure the guests will always remember the party. Other favors which are considered appropriate for a New Year’s Eve party include clocks and top hats.
If you host a themed New Year’s Eve party, it is a good idea to give your guests a favor which is closely associated to the theme of the party. For example if you threw a New Year’s Eve party with a western theme you might consider giving the guests beer mugs instead of champagne glasses. For a New Year’s Eve party with a theme related to the ocean you could give guests seashells or sand sculptures as favors. Another popular option for party favors at any party is candy. You can purchase candy in a variety of different shapes. You may opt for a shape which is appropriate for New Year’s Eve or a fun shape which is completely unrelated to the occasion.
A truly unique and fun idea for providing favors for a New Year’s Eve party is to ask each guest to bring a party favor to the New Year’s Eve party. The guests can either purchase a favor for the purpose of the party or they can bring a favor they received at another party. The favors can either be practically, whimsical, nostalgic or even silly. As the guests arrive you can collect the favors and place them at each place setting under an opaque cloth. Then as the guests are seated they can take turns unveiling their favor. The guest who provided the favor can either tell the true story of how they acquired the favor or they can make up the story about the favor. This way the favors also provide entertainment for the guests.

No Hangovers Here - Planning A Non-Alcoholic New Year’s Eve Party

For many people New Year’s Eve and alcohol are synonymous. Many people simply cannot image a New Year’s Eve party without alcohol but each year many people opt to host a non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve party. There are number of reasons why an individual or group might decide to host a non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve party. These reasons might include a large number of minors at the party, religious preferences, previous tragedies involving alcohol or simply lifestyle preferences. Whatever the reason for hosting a non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve party, it is important to plan your party carefully to ensure it is a great deal of fun for everyone who attends.
If you plan on hosting a non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve party you should make it clear from the early stages that the event will not include alcohol. One way to do this is to include a statement on the invitation specifying that alcohol will not be made available during the party and that you would appreciate it if guests do not bring their own alcohol. Additionally, you may include a statement specifying the reason why the even is non-alcoholic but you are not obligated to do so. In the case of parties involving minors it may seem redundant to specifically state there will be no alcohol at the party but it is not exactly an unnecessary step. Although minors are not permitted to drink, unfortunately many of them find ways to sneak alcohol into parties. Furthermore some parents even permit this outrageous behavior. Including a statement specifying the New Year’s Eve party will help to reassure the other guests and their parents that alcohol consumption will not be allowed or tolerated.
When planning a non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve party, you still have to worry about the type of beverages you will serve to your guests. It is not reasonable to expect your guests to not drink any beverages during the evening so you should provide a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages for their consumption during the party. Some beverage ideas include sodas, water and juices. Additionally, you might want to consider serving drinks known as mocktails. These drinks can be made in a variety of styles, colors and flavors and are essentially non-alcoholic versions of popular cocktails such as martinis, pina coladas and margaritas.
The beverages choices as a non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve party may be one of the most important planning issues the host has to take care of, it is certainly not the only party planning issue the host faces. It is important to note other items such as food and entertainment will also have to be addressed. Regardless of the type of beverages you are offering to your guests, you will also have to plan on serving them some type of food as well during your New Year’s Eve party. This is true of any party, it is especially important to consider for a New Year’s Eve party because these parties typically last significantly longer than other types of parties. Popular food options for a New Year’s Eve party include serving a sit down dinner, offer a dinner buffet which is open throughout the night or simply offering appetizers and sandwiches throughout the evening. Still another option is to offer a breakfast buffet in the early morning for the guests.
Entertainment is another factor to consider when planning a non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve party. Music is one of the traditional entertainment elements often used for this type of party. Whether you hire a band, hire a DJ or play your own music, including music and a place for guests to dance is an excellent entertainment idea. You might also consider hiring a comedian to do a short performance or a group of actors to put on a show to entertain your guests.

Can You Plan A Stress Free New Year’s Eve Party?

If you are in the process of planning a New Year’s Eve party, you likely want to make the event as stress free as possible. While there is always some stress involved in planning any event, there are a number of steps you can take in reducing the amount of stress involved while you are planning your New Year’s Eve party. This article will focus on providing tips for keeping the stress level to a minimum when planning a New Year’s Eve party. There may still be a few areas which cause concern or stress but if you follow these tips, the event will likely be more enjoyable for you and the guests.
Consider making the dress for the event casual instead of formal to create a more stress free environment. This simple stress can be very effective for reducing the stress level. First of all, if the affair is casual, the host will have to spend less time getting dressed for the party. This is important because the host often becomes quite stressed out on the day of the party because she is trying to take care of last minute details while she is also worried about getting dressed for the party. It also helps to reduce the stress level because guests expect more elegant food for a formal party than they do for a casual party so there is less stress to prepare and serve an elaborate meal at the party.
Regardless of the type of food you decide to serve, preparing the food for a New Year’s Eve party can be a significant cause of stress. Hiring a caterer is the most efficient way to minimize this stress. When hiring a caterer the host may have a great deal of work during the planning phases in selecting a caterer, tasting the food and selecting dishes for the menu, but once this is done the host only has to worry about coordinating the delivery and service of the food. This leaves the hostess free to focus on other elements of the party and prevents her from spending a great deal of time in the kitchen on the evening of the party.
While hiring a caterer is an excellent idea, it can be rather expensive. Fortunately there are also a number of inexpensive options for minimize the stress associated with preparing the food for a New Year’s Eve party. One fun way to do this is to make the party a potluck event. Having guests bring dishes such as side dishes, salads, appetizers, desserts and even main dishes or drinks greatly reduces the amount of work for the host. In this scenario the host only has to worry about providing one or two items and coordinating the other guests to ensure they do not all bring similar items.
Another inexpensive option which can help to reduce the amount of stress typically associated with preparing the food for a New Year’s Eve party is to serve only appetizers, desserts and cocktails at the party. This is significantly less expensive as appetizers are traditionally much less expensive than main course items. It is also acceptable to do this because most New Year’s Eve parties do not start until 9pm. It is acceptable to assume most guests will have had dinner earlier in the evening but as a courtesy to the guests it is worthwhile to indicate on the invitations that only appetizers and desserts will be served.

Santa Doesn’t Go To The Dollar Store - Toys For Christmas

There are some things that do not change from generation to generation. These are the things that fond memories are made from. There are also the things that we want to do differently than our parents did with us. The things that we want to do differently probably are those that have created hurtful memories for us. We all had good and bad experiences in childhood, the key is to be able to move on from our past and create happier memories for our adult years.
One of the experiences that may have caused either good or bad memories is the toys for Christmas that we received. For me I have both kinds of memories that I think about when I reminisce about the toys for Christmas I received over the years. When I was seven years old I wanted a Barbie doll. The dolls had come on to the market the same year that I was born and my name is Barb. When I was younger everyone called me Barbie. So many of my friends owned Barbie dolls and I thought I should have one. My parents did not have much money so my mother did a great deal of shopping in discount stores. She was the queen of off brand merchandise. That year for Christmas when I opened my present I found that I did receive a doll. It was the same size as a Barbie doll, however it was a Vivian doll. This was the cheaper off brand version. The Barbie doll clothes fit the doll. The difference was that the Vivian doll did not have the same feet so the high heeled Barbie doll shoes did not fit. Also the face looked different. I was very disappointed with the doll. I did not think that the couple of dollars that mom saved was worth it. I do not remember any other toys for Christmas from that year.
I think my mother realized from that experience that cheaper is not always better. I never did enjoy playing with that doll. From that time on it seemed that we received brand name items for our toys for Christmas. Now that I am a parent I make sure that my children have fond memories of the holidays. They do not get everything that they put on their lists because moderation is a lesson I want them to learn, but the things that they do receive are high quality and specifically what they ask for. I am sure there are things that they will do differently when they parent their children, but hopefully the hurtful memories they have from childhood will be few.

What I Did With My Toy Soldiers

When I was a little kid, I loved toy soldiers more than anything else. This is a little bit strange to some people because I wasn’t a big fan of military toys. I had toy guns, a soldier costume and a water pistol, but I rarely used any of them. On the other hand, you could not get me away from those toy soldiers. I would sit down with them every chance I got. I would bring them to the dinner table, smuggle them in my pockets into the classroom with me, and even play with them on the way to and from school.
My very favorite toy soldier models were called “Knights of the Sword”. They were medieval toy soldiers and they were absolutely spectacular. Although they were made of plastic, they were some of the most dramatic and well designed soldier toys I have ever seen to this day. They were all in these great poses. They would have their sword arms ready to swing, the shields raised fiercely in front of them and their standards blowing in the breeze.
They also had a lot of toy soldier play sets. One day, my parents bought me an actual toy catapult that went with the set. It came complete with two knights to load it and plastic stones to fire. Although I did not actually have a toy castle to fire the siege engine at, I would set up blocks and knock them down whenever I wanted to pretend to have a siege.
Of course, I had many other toy soldiers as well. I must have had hundreds of green army men, but my parents would have taken them away if they knew what I did with them! The great thing about green army men was that they were so cheap to buy. My parents a buy them for me whenever I wanted. As a result, I could actually play war with them. Some of them would get broken to pieces, other ones I would melt with a lighter that I found in my dad’s study. I would get together with my best friends and we would play toy soldier games for hours on end. We would set up elaborate outdoor battles, complete with land mines and bullet wounds. Few of those toy army men survived more than a few battles and it is strange that my parents never wondered where they all went!
